SSAFA – Business Support & Development Officer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Business Support and Development Officer in the Personal Support and Social Work Services (RAF) at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to support the Head of Service RAF PS & SWS in business development through the generation and distribution of reports and collation of statistics for quality assurance. You will also provide administrative oversight and support to the Personal Support and Social Work Services (RAF) including the co-ordination of the key management meetings with the Royal Air Force.

This role will work closely with the Head of Service to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the service. You will build on previous experience of project management whilst also acting as a point of contact for liaison with other departments within the organisation and externally with key stakeholders.

You will build on the successes of the current contract and lead business support activities across the country. You will work closely with the Personal Support and Social Work Service Regional Managers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the service.

Requirements

You will be a highly motivated, pro-active individual who can prioritise work when under pressure and have the confidence to work autonomously as well as part of a team. The role carries a high degree of responsibility and due to the nature of the work the need for confidentiality is paramount.

You will be educated to degree level with a broad range of administrative experience. You will also have excellent communication, organisational and I.T. skills, combined with the ability to minute complex meetings. In addition some project and financial management experience is required.

To carry out this role you will have;

  • The ability to manage a complex workload and be able to monitor the work activities of a dispersed team.
  • Diplomacy skills to be able to work collaboratively to drive forward service improvement.
  • The ability to communicate with a wide range of people both within SSAFA and externally.
  • Experience of service development and/ or contract management.

Please note that this role is based in London or RAF High Wycombe with national travel required.

About SSAFA’s RAF Personal Support and Social Work Service

The SSAFA Personal Support and Social Work Service have been working with the Royal Air Force for 26 years. The service works alongside the RAF, but outside the Chain of Command. SSAFA staffs are there to help eligible beneficiaries with their welfare and social work concerns. We know that military staff and families face some unique challenges such as regular deployments, having to live apart and frequent moves. Our team provides comprehensive and confidential support, with a special focus on services for adults, but including children, young people and their families.
