SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, is proud to recognise the achievements of Robert Dunne, who has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List for his exceptional work with Veterans Housing Scotland (VHS).
Robert, who serves as both Branch Chair for Northern Ireland and Regional Chair for Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland at SSAFA, has dedicated himself to supporting veterans for many years through a range of voluntary roles. His MBE has been awarded specifically for his contribution to improving housing opportunities for veterans in Scotland.
Robert commented:
“I am deeply honoured to receive this award, which I share with everyone who works so hard to support our veterans. Providing safe and secure homes is vital for helping former service personnel rebuild their lives and I am proud to have played a part of this mission. I am also grateful for the ongoing support of my colleagues at VHS and my fellow volunteers at SSAFA, who inspire me every day with their dedication to our Armed Forces community.”
Kevin Gray, Chief Executive of VHS and a fellow SSAFA volunteer, said:
“Robert has worked tirelessly to ensure veterans have access to safe, secure, and affordable housing. His dedication and compassion have transformed countless lives, and we at VHS are delighted that his commitment has been recognised with this well-deserved honour.”
Mike Clements, Divisional Secretary in County Down, Northern Ireland added:
“Robert’s selfless service is an inspiration to all of us in the SSAFA family. While his MBE reflects his achievements with VHS, his leadership within SSAFA shows his unwavering commitment to veterans and their families.”
