Norton House Stanford Hall (NHSH), Stanford on Soar

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Deputy Housing Manager to join the Norton House staff team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 82,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet; those currently serving, reserves, veterans and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.

About the role

Norton House Stanford Hall is a large 8-bedroom home for families visiting injured servicemen and –women undergoing rehabilitation at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) Stanford Hall, near Loughborough. The Home operates 24 hours, which includes out of hours duty, on call, and the responsibility to manage this usually rests more heavily upon the Housing Manager, with support from the Deputy Housing Manager, responding to the residents’ needs.

The residents are the next of kin or main support network of their loved one receiving treatment at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre. The staff members work individually and as part of a team to provide the necessary support to the families in residence. The Deputy Housing Manager supports the manager to provide support and deliver outcomes for the residents at NHSH, therefore an empathic and holistic approach is required.

You will support the manage to ensure the smooth running of Norton House, so that our guests are able to enjoy a ‘home from home’ environment when they come to visit their loved ones at the DMRC.  You will liaise with the DMRC and other external agencies, look at local fundraising opportunities with the Manager, as well as welcoming and caring for guests during their stay.

About the team

The team is made up of the Housing Manager, a Deputy Housing Manager, a Family Support Worker and 2 Housekeepers.  It is a very close knit team that works well together and provides a great service for our guests.  Everyone is involved in helping to make Norton House the best it can be.

About you
