SSAFA – Email Marketing Executive

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full-time Email Marketing Executive to join the Digital & Innovation department at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.

About the role

We are seeking an Email Marketing Executive to join the Digital Content & Engagement workstream to plan and implement various our email campaigns to increase engagement and income across all our digital channels.

You will play a key role in reviewing existing campaigns, and working with stakeholders to plan and execute day-to-day email communications with our varied audience of supporters. Your detailed plans will be transparent and informative, and aligned with campaign objectives.

You will take the lead on researching the most effective approaches in terms of style, content, and delivery mechanisms, maximising the impact, and contributing to our marcomms and fundraising strategy, particularly focusing on audience mapping and automation of campaigns.

A key aspect of the role will be to provide an analytical data-driven perspective, monitoring, reporting, and analysing email campaigns to make improvements and achieve maximum results.

Using a suite of analytical tools such as Google Analytics and our own bespoke reporting and CRM platforms, you will help drive the discussion and decision making around how email can effectively feed into existing marketing and communication campaigns.

Day-to-day, you will apply excellent copywriting skills and create engaging visual content, as well as work with key stakeholders to understand their objectives, and recommend the best course of action to achieve these. In particular, you will be working closely with the Marketing & Brand, PR, Volunteering, Fundraising and Services teams to plan, tailor, and deliver email camapaigns.

Your role is pivotal in developing and delivering an integrated digital content strategy to support fundraising, volunteering, and broader organisation to raise awareness of the SSAFA brand.

About you

To carry out this role successfully, you will have a track record of delivering high quality email camapiagns. Expertise in email marketing platforms is essential (DotDigtal preferred).

You will have experience in building and designing mobile-responsive emails using HTML/CSS, and knowledge and expertise in developing email automation programmes.

You will be comfortable creating engaging content for a range of target audiences. The Email Officer will thrive in a strong collaborative and communicative way of working. They will support a small but high performing communications team and bring a systematic approach to their work.

You will have strong project management skills with experience in managing multiple projects, and developing and monitoring complex email calendars to ensure objectives are met to maximise income, engagement, and ROI. You will have demonstratable experience understanding of user research, data analytics and user testing methods to make content relevant to audience groups.

Interview date: 1st stage interviews will take place week commencing 18 October.  Please note that this will be a one stage interview process, and you will be asked to do an aptitude test and prepare a presentation, followed by a set of questions in the interview.
