SSAFA – Engagement & Communications Manager

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Up to £35,000 per annum pro rata

30 hours per week

Fixed term 1 year

Central London, EC3R

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a part-time Engagement & Communications Manager to join SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, for a one-year period supporting our organisational change programme.

SSAFA supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 73,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet; those currently serving, reserves, veterans and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.

About the role

You will play a critical role in a very important programme, SSAFA@140 – an organisational development programme which is designed to identify, pilot and implement new ways of working across our volunteer delivered services.  We are looking to redefine how the charity can continue to deliver timely, effective, personalised support to beneficiaries while also creating even more rewarding opportunities for volunteers and employees.

Your role will be to plan and deliver a communications strategy for SSAFA@140 that will inspire individuals to participate and share information with all stakeholders.

We are open to discussing the possibility of occasionally working from home.

About the team

You will be working in a newly formed project team headed up by our Programme Director and reporting to our Programme Manager.

About you

To carry out this role you will have a track record of

  • successfully implementing an internal communications programme to help to deliver an organisational change programme
  • communicating and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders across multiple sites and
  • utilising digital technology to develop innovative ways to inspire and inform

If you have first-hand experience of generating true engagement, facilitating organisation-wide discussion and sharing solutions with any mix of volunteers, employees, beneficiaries and other stakeholders, we want you to engage and communicate with us now.

SSAFA is an employer that values the diversity of its workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
