An exciting opportunity has arisen to join SSAFA in this strategically important and influential role.

We are looking for a highly experienced corporate fundraising professional to join our team and lead the development of our commercial (including trading) activity and corporate partnerships income generation.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is the UK’s oldest military tri-service charity, established in 1885.  Every year, SSAFA helps 80,000 people from the Forces family get back on their feet.  From the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran, no one’s service in uniform is ever forgotten.  We provide hope, help and support for as long as it takes to regain that person’s independence and dignity.

About the role

This is an exciting time to be joining the charity as we develop our plans around a new and ambitious fundraising strategy for the next three years.

The Head of Commercial and Corporate Partnerships is responsible for implementing SSAFA’s strategy for developing and managing high-value commercial and corporate partners as well as overseeing our online retail trading activities with an overall target income budget of c £1m.

One of six Heads reporting directly to the Director of Fundraising, you will lead a team of corporate fundraising and commercial/trading specialists as well as contributing to the leadership and management of the wider fundraising directorate and organisation as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Working closely with colleagues in the Marketing & Communications, Volunteer Operations and Services directorates you will develop and deliver a bold and ambitious business development and fundraising strategy that will drive significant growth in our income over the next three years.

About you

You will have senior-level management experience in the charity sector and bring expertise and sound knowledge of charity fundraising and corporate partnerships.

You are passionate about corporate fundraising and experienced in developing multi-layered, strategic partnerships.  You will be able to demonstrate ambition and success in achieving significant growth in a market full of opportunity and healthy challenge.

You will thrive in a collaborative and coaching-style team dynamic and be able to motivate, develop and empower team members to achieve common goals as well as manage expectations and priorities of multiple stakeholder groups. Engaging others from all backgrounds and areas of the business will be an area in which you excel.

Corporate and commercial partnerships play a key role within our fundraising strategy as they provide unique opportunities for the charity to bring its welfare support, services and programmes to new audiences and to align our values with those of our partners in a way that will deliver significant and lasting impact for our beneficiaries and their families.
