A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of Volunteering in the Volunteer Operations department at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced volunteer manager to provide operational support to all volunteers in SSAFA’s network, both UK-based and overseas. The Head of Volunteering will be responsible for developing, training and supporting SSAFA’s volunteer-led network of branches, service committees and community volunteer groups to deliver quality services that meet and exceed internal and external regulatory standards.
You will ensure that SSAFA volunteers have a rewarding experience across the full volunteer lifecycle, by having an effective programme of induction, establishing and managing effective communication channels.
Requirements
To carry out this role successfully you will have experience of working with, and engaging, volunteers across a wide geographical area. You will demonstrate a good understanding of the principles and best practice of successful volunteering, including recruitment, retention, recognition, engagement and management and will have experience of evaluating volunteer activities and projects. Recognising the value of collaboration, you will also have demonstrable experience of building relationships with organisations and associations to create and promote volunteering programmes. You will demonstrate diplomacy, a high level of emotional intelligence and the ability to inspire and persuade in order to drive through change
