A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Learning and development trainer in the Learning and development team at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 82,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet; those currently serving, reserves, veterans and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and multi skilled Learning and development senior trainer to work as part of our team delivering training to our volunteer network and employees. Your role will involve managing the team of three trainers to design, develop and deliver our complete range of courses that will inspire our volunteers and employees to want to learn. You will consult and collaborate with internal stakeholders and departments to understand our work, identify appropriate content, design training interventions, deliver courses across the South of England and evaluate the impact of the learning.

Requirements

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of delivering standard training content for all our new caseworkers and provide regionalised bespoke content to support our volunteers. We are looking for an experienced trainer, ideally with a background working in the voluntary sector or similar, who is highly credible and can  really bring our values to life. We’re also looking for someone who can lead and inspire a team to deliver high quality training.

The role will also require identification of needs, design of suitable learning interventions and materials and where applicable, the analysis of information to make sound decisions regarding training outcomes through to the evaluation of training programmes. Experience of Virtual training delivery is highly desirable.

You will need to be a committed team player with a highly collaborative style, and be able to demonstrate resilience and resourcefulness, along with being self-motivated and able to prioritise in a fast paced and changing organisation.
