A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Public Relations Officer to join the PR and Public Affairs Team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.
SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. In 2020 SSAFA helped more than 79,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet; those currently serving, reserves, veterans and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.
About the role
We are looking for a proactive self-starter to work in a busy press office environment supporting the PR team in delivering SSAFA’s PR strategy, with a particular focus on raising our profile, improving understanding of our work, and building relationships with key stakeholders both regionally and nationally.
The role will need to develop strong, collaborative relationships across the organisation, including with the volunteer network through branches, divisions and service committees. Successful applicants will build on their existing relationships with media and grow relationships within the third, military and social care sectors.
