SSAFA – UK Veterans in Europe Project Coordinator

£25,000 per annum 

37.5 hrs pw – fixed term contract until 31 March 2021

Home based in North West/West Midlands

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Project Coordinator to join the Volunteer Operations department at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity on a fixed term contract until 31st March 2021.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 82,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet; those currently serving, reserves, veterans and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.

About the role 

SSAFA has been awarded grant funding from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to assist UK veterans residing in France, Germany & Cyprus to register or apply for residency post Brexit and to support them as they complete their applications.  You will be co-ordinating the delivery of the project through liaison with the SSAFA branches in France, Germany & Cyprus, other key SSAFA departments and external stakeholders.

About the team

Line managed by the Volunteer Support Manager for the North West, West Midlands & Overseas; you will be a part of SSAFA’s Volunteer Operations Department.  However, a key part of your role will be to liaise with internal SSAFA departments including the Marketing, PR, Digital and fundraising teams.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of project management in the charity sector, and of supporting and coordinating volunteers.  Your will also have excellent time management and communication skills.  This is a home-based role, but you must be willing the travel both within the UK, to our Central Office in London, and possibly overseas (France, Germany, Cyprus).
