SSAFA – Volunteer Support Manager (West Midlands, North West and Overseas)

£33,000 per annum
37.5 hours per week
Home based within either UK region

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Volunteer Support Manager to support branches and service committees at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.

About the role

Based at home in the UK with frequent travel across the regions, to London and occasional travel overseas, you will provide regular support with recruitment, engagement and associated activities to our volunteer officers across the regions.

In addition, you will be a member of the team developing best practice guidance and tools to be used across the volunteer network of some 6000 volunteers, almost 4000 of whom are directly delivering services, making SSAFA a truly volunteer led organisation.

Requirements

To carry out this role successfully you will have:

  • A passion and proven experience of working with volunteers and a commitment to volunteer delivered services.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Experience of working with clients in a helping role.
  • Knowledge of the Charity Commission reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to achieve results using negotiation and influence rather than authority.
