SSVC – Director of Communications (Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire)

Circa £90,000

The Services Sound and Vision Corporation (SSVC) is a charitable company, which for the last 35 years has operated British Forces Broadcasting under contract to the Ministry of Defence.

This consists of running radio stations in places with large concentrations of British military, abroad and at home, and broadcasting the best of British TV to Forces and their families based overseas. The media services include Forces Radio BFBS, Forces TV,, Forces Events and Entertainment (CSE), Forces Cinemas and the Forces Media Academy.

We are expanding our activities so diversely beyond our traditional contracted work as both the military and media landscapes are changing rapidly.

The Director of Communications is a key role which will shape and guide the long term strategy, while simultaneously overseeing and executing the day-to-day external relations, PR and marketing campaigning around our existing activities, those under contract and those funded by the charity.

We have embarked on an evolutionary process of rebranding to bring all our consumer-facing media activity together under the umbrella of the Forces Network. This work is still in its early stages and the Director of Communications will be charged with taking it forward.

We are looking for a senior communications leader who is commercially-minded without compromising our essentially charitable and welfare-related aims. The ideal candidate will have experience and understanding of the media, strong media contacts, experience of high-level influencing relations and a creative approach to communications, marketing and PR.

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for someone with the right background and approach to help refine and shape our future.

To request the candidate information pack, please email quoting SSVC – Director of Communications.

The closing date for applications is 9am, Wednesday 13th December 2017.
