Step Together’s Rehabilitation through Volunteering project provides in-depth support to wounded, injured and sick (WIS) veterans and service personnel across the UK to engage in community volunteering as part of their rehabilitation and recovery process.
We are seeking a Volunteering Project Manager to work directly with WIS clients in the Midlands and East of England, working alongside Personnel Recovery staff and veteran charity representatives engaged in the WIS recovery programmes. Through one-to-one support, group presentations, workshops, visits and follow-up coaching, the post holder will encourage and support WIS clients into volunteering placements, with the aim of enhancing confidence and personal skills and supporting a successful transition to civilian life.
The position will be home-based in the Midlands or East of England and will involve significant travel to clients, referral agencies, recipient charities, and the PRU in Colchester, so the use of a car and full, clean driving licence is essential.
This position requires persistence, self-motivation and determination, and would be very well suited to someone with direct military (or military family) experience at a management level. The ability to relate to veterans and soldiers of both sexes and all ages, and their families, with a specific focus on supporting those who have been wounded, injured or sick. Applicants should be comfortable with remote working, and have a valid driving licence.
Hours: 21 hours per week (to be worked over 3 to 5 days)
Salary: £15,000 actual (£25,000 FTE)
Holidays: 20 days including public holidays (33 FTE)
