The Army Benevolent Fund is delighted to award a £20,000 grant to Style for Soldiers towards this year’s family reunion day for injured Army veterans and families.
Many wounded and disabled veterans experience loneliness and social isolation and miss the friendship and camaraderie they enjoyed during their years of military service. Style for Soldiers provides smart clothing and military dress for medically discharged service personnel, most of whom were wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. The charity also organises parties and reunions to help them connect with military comrades with similar needs and challenges.
Our grant will go towards the charity’s annual family reunion day in August at the Woburn Safari Park on the estate of the Duke of Bedford who will attend the event and generously provides free access and a barbecue lunch each year.
Major General Tim Hodgetts CB CBE KHS DL, Surgeon General and Patron of Style for Soldiers, said:
“Style for Soldiers supports a community of seriously injured and disabled veterans in their continuing journey to restore and sustain wellbeing. The family is at the heart of this process, and we thank the Army Benevolent Fund for its grant to enable this year’s family reunion event, knowing the positive impact this will have on the mental health of our beneficiaries.”
Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer, Army Benevolent Fund added:
“We fund several charities that help wounded and disabled former soldiers during their recovery and promote their mental health and wellbeing. We were pleased to award another grant to Style for Soldiers towards this year’s family reunion event.”
