ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is delighted to award a £5,400 grant to the charity Veterans at Ease to support the charity’s specialist mental health psychotherapy for Army veterans.
Supporting the mental health and wellbeing of veterans is a priority area for our charity. Veterans at Ease provides mental health support to veterans, including those affected by PTSD and other serious conditions, through a specialised technique called Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy (NLPt). The therapy involves bespoke one-to-one sessions that encourage beneficiaries to think constructively and change their behaviour patterns to improve their lives.
Our donation will partly fund the costs of training courses for four new therapists: two at the charity’s Norfolk site, one in the North-East and another in Tees Valley.
Garreth Murrell, Chief Executive Officer, Veterans at Ease, said:
“It usually takes between 10 and 14 years after service for a member of the Armed Forces community to seek help for issues connected to their mental health. The UK left Afghanistan nine years ago and I expect a high demand for our services over the next five to ten years. ABF The Soldiers’ Charity’s new grant will enable us to help over 100 extra men and women every year who served in our Armed Forces and deserve to have peace of mind as civilians.”
Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:
“Mental health is a key area of our work. Our charity supports many specialist charities that tackle aspects of mental illness among the Army family in different and highly effective ways. We are proud to help Veterans at Ease by providing funding towards the training costs for four new therapists.”
