Supporting the Unsung Hero has merged its brand with the successful X-Forces Enterprise (XFE) Spouses & Partners Programme to create a strengthened offer for the partners and spouses of serving personnel combining trusted military-family insight with proven enterprise support: the power of two.
Funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, the Supporting the Unsung Hero Business Start-Up Programme returns in early 2026 with confirmed online workshop dates for partners and spouses of serving personnel:
- Day 1: 28th January 2026
- Day 2: 5th February 2026
- Day 3: 12th February 2026
Designed specifically around the realities of military life, relocations, changing routines, and the need for flexible, portable careers, this practical, peer-supported programme is for anyone exploring self-employment, shaping an early-stage idea, or preparing to launch.
Across the three sessions, participants will gain insight into:
- The realities of self-employment: the pros, the challenges, and what success looks like for you
- Developing a business plan and how planning increases the likelihood of success (including customers, competitors, and market trends)
- Effective marketing communication using proven models, including segmentation strategies
- Choosing the right legal structure, understanding tax obligations, and building basic bookkeeping confidence
- And much more… with space for questions, discussion, and confidence-building throughout
Participants of the Supporting the Unsung Hero Business Start-Up will also be connected into XFE’s wider mentoring and networking ecosystem. XFE is a Specialist Business Support Partner for the Government-backed Start Up Loans scheme, helping armed forces families access guidance and wraparound support beyond the workshops.
This programme is delivered in collaboration with the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, the UK Ministry of Defence, and Landmarc Solutions.
