Take on SSAFA’s 13 Bridges Challenge this Armed Forces Day

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is hosting the 13 Bridges Challenge – London’s Armed Forces Day event – to help support serving personnel, veterans and their families.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, in partnership with Corps Security and Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, is hosting the ’13 Bridges Challenge’ to support members of the Armed Forces community.

The Armed Forces Day event will take participants on a 10-mile walk through Greater London, exploring the 13 bridges that connect the city.

Starting near Tower Bridge, the challenge will head west of the city, crossing many of London’s iconic bridges, including Westminster Bridge and London Bridge. Participants will then cross the finish line to be greeted by well-wishers and receive their very own medal after taking on the final bridge – Battersea Bridge.

Those taking on the event will be supported throughout by volunteers from the local Armed Forces community and there will also be an area at the finish line for refreshments and photo opportunities.

Sir Andrew Gregory, Chief Executive at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, said:

“After a very successful year in 2021, raising over £76,000 for SSAFA, the 13 Bridges Challenge is back for 2022.

“Armed Forces Day is a time to thank servicemen and women for their selfless commitment to our nation. The 13 Bridges Challenge is an excellent opportunity to celebrate Armed Forces Day and raise much needed funds to support serving personnel, veterans and their families.”

The event will take place on Saturday 25 June, with a £50 fundraising target per person which will go to SSAFA to help continue its vital support to the Armed Forces, veterans and their families.
