Job Purpose – Electrical Engineer
- To produce original designs, drawings and support documents.
- To update/improve existing designs, drawings and document packs based on investigation & research.
- The production of as-built drawings from systems surveys.
- To be involved with electrical systems liaison with customers, suppliers and internal departments to ensure that information is shared.
- To approve drawings against specified requirements.
- To advance the goals of the company by producing innovative and rigorous designs within the electrical engineering environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of the principles and application of electrical design and manufacture.
- Proficient in the creation of Electrical System drawings, Wiring or Block Diagrams using System sizing calculations and component specifications.
- Understanding of 400v AC and/or 12vDC systems.
- A degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- Knowledge / understanding of 3 phase design solutions.
- Preferably qualified and competent in testing and inspection to City & Guilds 2391-52, however, training may be provided.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Visio, Solid Works Electrical 2d would be advantageous.
Experience
- Previous experience of industrial and or vehicle electrical systems.
- Proven Electrical Engineering experience is essential in a heavily regulated industry.
- Experience in circuit simulation advantageous.
General
- The job holder will have a current driving licence.
- Ability to be flexible and work outside core hours on occasion.
- Offsite work may be required, UK and abroad.
- Ability to work in the UK with no restrictions.
- Must meet security vetting criteria (resident of UK for last 5 years).
- To understand the health and safety requirements in own work area.
- Able to identify development areas and strengths.
- To participate in continuous professional development & keep abreast of best practice throughout the industry.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to communicate and work with people at all levels.
- Confident in presenting to internal / external customers.
- Sound judgement and decision making ability.
- Ability to organise and prioritise a number of projects simultaneously.
- Ability to understand a customer’s requirements and to build good relationships with internal and external customers.
