***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***
Hours: 20 hours per week – 5 hours per day 12:30-17:30 Monday-Thursday
Location: The Poppy Factory, 20 Petersham Road, Richmond, Surrey TW10 6UR
Contract: Fixed term contract – 2 years with possibility of extension
About Us:
The Poppy Factory has been at the heart of supporting veterans and their families for over a century, providing meaningful employment and producing iconic Remembrance products that hold profound significance across the UK. We are proud of our heritage and our commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and care, whether we’re crafting wreaths for the Royal British Legion or organizing the annual Field of Remembrance.
The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Factory & Warehouse Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that our Remembrance products meet the exceptional standards expected by the Royal British Legion and the Royal Family. Working closely with the Production Manager, you will supervise a team that includes veterans with health conditions and disabilities, leading by example to foster a positive and productive work environment.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing daily production operations and managing materials and stock levels to keep production running smoothly. Your leadership will be hands-on, as you guide and support the team through the production process. You will also supervise warehouse operations, including taking a full part in manual handling activities, preparing raw materials for production, and packaging of goods for despatch.
Additionally, you will play an important role in the planning and delivery of our annual Field of Remembrance, working alongside the Director and volunteer production staff.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking someone with a strong background in leading teams. You’ll need to be a clear communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of managing both people and processes effectively. You’ll have strong IT skills, comfortable with MS office suite and stock control systems. Experience in working with diverse teams, including individuals with disabilities and neurodiverse conditions, will be particularly valuable, as will any experience with the Armed Forces community or in the charity or welfare sectors.
We value resilience, empathy, and a can-do attitude. You should be someone who can handle competing priorities professionally and methodically, and who takes pride in leading by example. Familiarity with safe working practices is essential, and any additional qualifications, such as a NEBOSH Certificate or first aid training, would be advantageous.
Why Join Us?
By joining The Poppy Factory, you’ll be part of a legacy that not only supports veterans and their families but also plays a crucial role in national Remembrance. You’ll have the opportunity to lead a dedicated team, work on meaningful projects, and contribute to a cause that resonates deeply across the nation.
If you’re passionate about making a difference and have the skills and experience we’re looking for, we would love to hear from you.
