The Poppy Factory – Employment Consultant

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Full time: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Home and field-based covering the West Midlands
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £26,520 or £27,540 (dependent upon qualifications)

Are you passionate about supporting individuals with mental or physical health conditions and other barriers into meaningful, sustainable employment?

We have a vacancy for an Employment Consultant to join an established nationwide team with strong networks across the West Midlands. This is an opportunity to join The Poppy Factory at an exciting period in our 100-year history as we grow and adapt our service to meet 21st century needs.

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Experienced in helping others in need of support. This could be in employment, housing, health, social care or other sector. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have experience of successfully managing caseloads of individuals with complex needs.
  • Able to assess presenting needs and risks and know when these are within their capability to manage safely and when they need to be escalated or referred on for additional support.
  • Client focused and able to adapt their styles to individual needs and preferences.
  • A strong communicator with high emotional intelligence who can adapt their approach to different audiences.
  • Adept at identifying and developing effective & collaborative relationships with other professionals and employers across the West Midlands.
  • Creative with problem-solving, who asks questions to learn more about a situation and is thoughtful and tenacious in working with others to find a range of possible solutions.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience of working with people with health conditions or other challenges such as criminal record, housing or long-term unemployment, and be positive about every person’s potential to succeed in their chosen employment regardless of their health or other barriers. Prior knowledge of the Armed Forces is not required to be successful in this role – our colleagues’ diverse professional experience is one of the strengths of our service.

This position is ideally suited to someone who thrives on a high degree of autonomy, enjoys a varied role with the opportunity to think creatively to solve challenges, and can work successfully as part of a remote team, sharing knowledge and skills to support and collaborate with colleagues.

As we embark series of exciting new projects around the UK in partnership with the NHS and other organisations, if you are excited to be part of an ambitious and growing service, this could be a fantastic role for you.

We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and LGBT+ candidates as these groups are currently under-represented in our organisation.

For more insight into the role, read our colleague Kirsty’s account of a ‘day in the life’ of an Employment Consultant.
