The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust – Trustee

Would you like to be involved in helping to run the charity which helps serving and former serving naval and RM ratings and their dependants in times of need and distress?

RNBT has a vacancy for an ‘Ordinary Member’ Trustee.

The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust (RNBT) helps those who are serving or have served as Warrant Officers and below in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, and their dependants, who find themselves in need or distress. Thousands of applicants, both serving and retired, are assisted every year. We also run a Care Home and an Almshouse, with plans to build a new Care Home in Portsmouth. Find out more from our website:

A founding principle of the Trust is that it is predominantly run by those who are serving or have served as non-commissioned Sailors and Royal Marines. Accordingly 11 of the 16 trustees that form the RNBT’s governing body are drawn from a wide range of serving and retired personnel who have been or are RN ratings and RM other ranks. Trustees wish to continue to encourage diversity, and applications from junior rates / ranks as well as representation from minority groups is encouraged. Application from those with service in submarines would be particularly welcome.

A vacancy will occur for one such Trustee position with effect from 1 April 2020. The election of a volunteer to fill this position will happen in the last week of March. We are looking for a wide range of competences, including but not limited to marketing, PR and Health & Safety.

If you are interested please contact Rob Bosshardt (Chief Executive) at the RNBT’s Portsmouth-based Head Office (02392 690112). You can also email a request for an application pack via:

The closing date for applications is 9 March 2020
