Hannah Kilpatrick and teammate Maddy Warmer from the Bristol University Royal Naval Unit are lacing up their trainers for Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity’s Race Across the UK challenge – raising funds for those who serve and have served our country.
The duo is participating in this once-in-a-lifetime event to support Royal Navy and Royal Marines families through RNRMC, a charity dedicated to supporting serving personnel, veterans, and their loved ones.
The challenge is open to everyone – both military and civilian. Participants will embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, travelling from Edinburgh to Dartmouth without map apps, cars or planes – relying solely on their wits, a map, and what they can carry – to raise vital funds in support of Naval families facing life-changing injuries, mental health challenges, and financial hardship.
The cause is deeply personal to them both. Their time with the Bristol University Royal Naval Unit (URNU) gave them a front-row view of the Royal Navy’s commitment, courage, and sacrifice. For Maddy, the connection runs even deeper, as her father served in the Royal Navy, making this challenge not only meaningful but truly close to her heart.
They said:
“We’ve had the privilege of working alongside Navy personnel and seeing their dedication up close. This is our way of giving back and showing that their service doesn’t go unnoticed. RNRMC does incredible work supporting those who’ve given so much, and we’re proud to be raising funds on their behalf.”
The team is calling on others across the region to get involved.
Whether you’re a student, a runner, or just looking for a reason to get outside, we’d love to see more teams sign up. Together, we can make a real difference.
