The Organisation

We’re Blind Veterans UK, a charity that helps vision-impaired ex-service people from every generation rebuild their lives regardless of how or when they lost their sight. Founded in 1915, by Sir Arthur Pearson, to help the many veterans losing their sight after the First World War, we have supported those blinded in subsequent wars and military engagements, including the Second World War, and more recently, the conflicts in the Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our Centre of Wellbeing in Llandudno offers visually impaired veterans holidays, training and rehabilitation services. Since opening our doors in 2011, we have helped more than 12,000 veterans with specialist support to enable them to enjoy life to the fullest. We also embrace technology and are proud to be one of the first fully integrated smart properties in Wales, utilising Alexa technology from Amazon to support our members during their visits and stays.

We are currently seeking a Hospitality Team Member (Night Security) to join us at our Llandudno Wellbeing Centre on a permanent, full-time basis.

The job:

We’re looking for highly organised and customer focused individuals who are proficient in bookings, administration and front of house duties.

Key responsibilities:

– Working to ensure the smooth running of the Centre, to provide a high-quality customer service experience to all beneficiaries and guests.
– Ensure Centre is safe and secure at night- regular patrols, manning and monitoring CCTV systems. Being visible across the Centre. Utilise the on-call duty manager contact, maintenance technician and emergency services as required in the event of untoward, unplanned and serious events.
– Provide porter services and meet all Event setup requests.
– To take responsibility for the administration of beneficiaries’ payments in the Centre and maintain an accurate record of invoices and collect payments.
– Develop, monitor and manage a beneficiary feedback model.
– Responsible for bookings at the Centre, ensuring all personal and accommodation requirements are met.
– Operate the main switchboard responding to all calls, taking beneficiary bookings and diverting to appropriate departments.
– Ensure efficient deliveries and mail distribution system.
– Manage Safety and Security Systems ensuring all Front of House aspects of Health and Safety and the Fire Evacuation of the building.
– Provide a full range of administration support and professional administrative services.
– Provide patient and effective room and centre orientation to beneficiaries.

Essential qualifications, experience and skills required for this role:

– General education to GCSE level in English Language and Mathematics
– Security Industry Authority Badge – Door supervision licensed premises
– Customer care skills
– Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, database systems and intranet
– Excellent telephone manner
– Self-starter with proactive attitude towards the resolution of any issues or delays
– Skilled communicator with requirements to engage with individuals at all levels
