Greenwich Hospital Awards Aggies £34,022 to support their continued pastoral and family work within the Royal Navy and Royal Marines community

Dame Agnes Weston’s Royal Charity for the Naval Service, more commonly known as Aggies, has received a grant of £34,022 to enable the continuation and further development of its vital pastoral and family support services for Royal Navy personnel and their families.

The funding award enables Aggie’s to continue delivering a range of services including:

  • Ongoing pastoral presence at HMS Raleigh and continued development of the much-loved Storybook Waves, helping Royal Navy personnel stay connected to their families through recorded stories and poems.
  • Storybook Waves Gift packs and deployment journals for families, and engaging activities for partners and children delivered through Royal Navy Community Centres, play parks, and outdoor spaces.

The funding award is a continuation of funding support to Aggies over the past 3 years and is designed to enable Aggies to plan their work to meet the changing needs of Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel and their families.

Deirdre Mills, Director, Greenwich Hospital, said:

“Aggies plays a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of Royal Navy personnel and their families, especially during times of separation or isolation. We’re proud to continue our support through this funding, which helps ensure their pastoral care and family-focused activities remain strong, responsive, and impactful.”

Revd. Dr Scott JS Shackleton, CEO, Aggies, said:

“This funding allows us to plan with confidence and ensure we’re there for Royal Navy personnel and their families—offering a listening ear, practical help, and meaningful connection when it’s needed most. We want to thank Greenwich Hospital for their continued support.”
