To relieve the needs of and to promote the good health and wellbeing of ex-service personnel (HM Armed Forces) and reservists and their families living in Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire and West Berkshire. In particular but not exclusively by providing them with help and assistance and by offering them social prescribing activities and a professionally supervised peer mentor led care co-ordination service to expert support providers for their benefit and in such other ways as the trustees consider fit.
Working closely with Partners in the statutory and third sector, we provide peer mentor support to our beneficiaries through social prescribing activities including breakfast clubs, coffee morning’s, drop-in’s, gardening and crafting to improve mental health and wellbeing and reduce social isolation. We also provide intensive one to one support by helping beneficiaries to navigate & hold steady in the highs & lows of their recovery journey.
Through assessment of needs, we make onward referrals to specialist services who provide treatment and other targeted support such as housing, benefits, debt advice etc.
We never just sign post to other organisations so that we actively reduce the need for our beneficiaries to keep re-telling their story.
The aims of the Witham Hub are to promote social inclusion for the public benefit of individuals living within the town of Witham and its surrounding area by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society.
To develop the capacity and skills of individuals living within that community who are socially and economically disadvantaged in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society.
To ensure that no one goes hungry by offering food support whenever needed, via our self-referral scheme, by referral from trusted partners or by our community fridge. We offer a no questions asked food parcel to bridge a gap when funds are tight but also offer someone to chat with if needed supporting mental health. Offering a friendly space for a cuppa and a chat. Our ethos is we put the unity back in community.
We offer many services:
Food support, mental health counselling with trained counsellors, assistance with form filling, volunteering opportunities for all both able bodied and disabled people which can lead to employment. We operate crafting workshops and drop-in groups including physical exercise groups. We also offer crisis prevention services and collaborate with professional services to support vulnerable individuals and families.
Our purpose is to provide an inviting meeting space for veterans of the Armed Forces, Emergency Services and Reservists to re-engage with life, their families and their communities.
Woody’s Lodge provides a meeting space for those that have served in the Armed Forces or their families to meet like-minded people. We have staff who can help with advice on benefits and from filling and if the need arises we signpost to the appropriate organisation that can assist further with Mental health, housing, debt management, pensions etc.
