As Military Wives is released nationwide, BFBS Cinemas has partnered with Military Wives Choirs around the world to host a series of special performances for serving military and their families at exclusive free pre-release screenings of the film.
Representatives of eight choirs participated at the screenings, which took place at cinemas in DMRC Stanford Hall, Gibraltar Barracks in Minley, JITG in Chicksands, Joint Flying Station Aldergrove in Northern Ireland, RAF Akrotiri and Dhekelia Garrison in Cyprus and Mount Pleasant and Stanley in The Falkland Islands – as well as BFBS Cinema’s Mobile Cinema while visiting Waterloo Lines, Leuchars in Scotland.
Jennifer Holdford, Cinema Operations Manager, says:
“This collaboration is the perfect opportunity to bring our military communities together through the love of film. Military Wives helps remind us that others may be going through similar or more difficult times and that we can all support each other. Whether that be through joining a local Military Wives Choir, by getting together for a cup of tea or by sharing a large tube of popcorn while watching a great movie.”
Melanie Nightingale, Director, Choirs Support Team, Military Wives Choirs, says:
“We are so excited by the release of this unique film and the opportunity to work in partnership with BFBS Cinemas to ensure screenings are enjoyed across the military community. It is a great example of how our unique communities come together and underpins our mission to sing, share and support.”
About BFBS Cinemas and BFBS
BFBS Cinemas is part of BFBS, a military charity that entertains, informs, connects and champions the UK Armed Forces.
Our TV, radio and digital platforms offer entertainment, news, sport and information services to the Armed Forces, their families, veterans and anyone interested in the military.
We have been keeping the serving military connected and in touch with home for 75 years, building morale and offering those serving overseas a valuable connection to life back home. A way to feel happier, and a way to know what’s going on around the world, share experiences and build communities.
BFBS also offers value-for-money commercial services to the military and other government clients. These services provide a source of income for the charity: digital and creative; training and development; and pioneering technical media and communication solutions that work even in the most extreme environments.
