Read moreEx-Cabinet ministers Iain Duncan Smith and Owen Paterson, former shadow Defence minister Julian Lewis and crossbench peer Lord Hastings have called for urgent action to be taken for 600 Commonwealth veterans living in destitution in Zimbabwe ahead of Armistice Day on Saturday (11th November).
Iain Duncan Smith, who was part of the British delegation that negotiated Zimbabwe’s independence, said it was “unacceptable” that men who were prepared to lay down their lives down for the British Crown should be living on one meal a day and without access to basic medical care.

The charity (formerly known as The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home), has recently extended one of its wings, to enlarge and improve the facilities in two existing rooms and build two additional single en-suite rooms. This not only provides two more beds, enabling the charity to care for more veterans and their family members, but it also gives greater flexibility when admitting both permanent and respite residents.
Her Royal Highness came to officially open the extended ward, which has been renamed the Richmond Wing.
Read morePrince Harry will open the 89th Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, to remember those in the Armed Forces who have lost their lives, on Thursday 9th November at 11.00 am.
Organised and run by The Poppy Factory every year, the Field will have 380 plots laid out in the names of military organisations and associations on the North Green of the Abbey. Remembrance symbols, made by veterans working at the factory in Richmond, are planted in these plots, often with hand written messages, from family, friends or colleagues.

Graham Ward, 59 and from Fleetwood, is being supported to do this by Specsavers. Specsavers stores across the country will be raising money from 6 to 12 November to help send blind veterans, including Graham, to march.
Graham will be marching at the Cenotaph in London with more than 100 other blind veterans supported by Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for vision-impaired ex-Service men and women.

The Battle of Cambrai in 1917 changed the history of warfare forever with the first large-scale use of tanks in battle.
The Royal Tank Regiment, started out as a top secret band of trades from all walks of life, who were brought together in the Tank Corps to break the stalemate of trench warfare. They soon evolved into a unit which revolutionised combat and has deployed on all major conflicts over the last 100 years.

Read moreSupporting Wounded Veterans’ Pain Management Programme run at, and in conjunction with, King Edward’s VII’s hospital, has now completed its first year of residential programmes. It is going from strength to strength, with on average 130 applications for every 10 places. We have also opened a Pain Clinic, where Veterans can come not only for advice on how to manage their pain, but also have a medication review.
