Read moreChildren’s Armed Forces charity, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, was chosen as one of seven charities to benefit from donations made to the Royal Wedding last month, and thanks to the Royal couple, the charity has received an incredible swell of awareness thanks to the new Duke and Duchess’s support over the last few weeks.
All press and media activity surrounding the Royal Wedding has helped raise the charity’s profile both on a national and international scale and within the third sector significantly.

Read moreThe Secretary of State for Defence, Rt Hon Gavin Williamson CBE, was a special guest of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity last month.
The Member of Parliament for South Staffordshire met staff from the national charity of the Royal Navy alongside guests from Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) and the Portsmouth City Council.
Mr Williamson’s visit to Portsmouth coincided with the announcement that HMS Queen Elizabeth will soon travel on its first major overseas deployment to New York. As the aircraft carrier’s affiliate charity, the RNRMC will play a role in supporting the sailors on board, many of whom will be deployed for up to 9 months at a time.

Scotland’s Armed Forces Children’s Charity, the Royal Caledonian Education Trust, is among ten organisations with long standing links with London, who have contributed to a new book, with a foreword from HRH The Princess Royal, to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War in 2018.
The book titled Scots in Great War London, a Community at Home and on the Frontline 1914-1919 highlights the efforts of these organisations during the First World War and will be published in late June. HRH The Princess Royal is the Patron of the Scots In Great War London Group.

Read moreA new tri-service youth participation project which aims to improve support and services for children and young people from armed forces and veteran families living in Scotland has been given the green light today thanks to funding from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.
The national youth participation project, which will run for 3 years is being launched by Scotland’s Armed Forces Children’s Charity, the Royal Caledonian Education Trust (RCET). The project has been informed by the success of a pilot series of mini-conferences, as well as a number of other ‘listening to the voices of children and young people from Armed Forces families’ initiatives that have been rolled out by the charity in recent years.
Read more8th May 2018. A children’s charity is to help children whose parents go away for extended periods with an awareness campaign and accompanying storybook. Created by The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Children’s Fund, the Kid Years campaign highlights the impact long parental absences can have on children.
Typically, there are around 56 thousand men and women deployed in the Armed Forces (15 thousand of whom are Naval Personnel), potentially leaving behind their children temporarily without at least one parent. As typical deployments last between three and nine months, these absences can have a profound emotional impact.
