Personal Reflections of The Falklands War

On 16 March, at St John’s Place Lower Bemerton Salisbury, the Wiltshire Alabaré Ambassadors held a fundraising evening entitled “Personal Reflections from the Falklands War and its Aftermath”. Overall nearly 120 were present and in excess of £2,500 was raised for Alabaré.

The official guests were the Mayor of Salisbury, Derek Brown OBE, Brigadier Hodder, CEO of the Wessex Reserve Forces Cadets Association, Wing Commander Vincent Thomas, Second in Command at Boscombe Down and Major Richard Rimmington MBE, Royal Logistic Corp. The major sponsors were the Mark Allen Group, Chemring Countermeasures and Our Wilton.

Prince Harry joins Veteran’s Mental Health Conference with Heads Together

Prince Harry attended a Veterans’ Mental Health Conference at King’s College London today where he led a panel discussion with three veterans on the power of conversations and getting the right mental health support.

At the event, organised by the King’s Centre for Military Health Research with Forces in Mind Trust, His Royal Highness also met an inspirational pair of injured UK and US veterans who are running this year’s Boston and London Marathons, six days apart, to raise awareness of military mental health issues.

Leading veterans’ mental health experts gathered today (Thursday 16th March) to discuss international perspectives on the mental health of the Armed Forces Community. They were joined by Prince Harry at King’s College London for the annual event, which for the second year running was sponsored solely by the Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT).

World-class speakers from leading UK and international institutions working in the field of veterans’ mental health gave a series of wide-ranging presentations and hosted debates. Prince Harry led a panel discussion with three former members of the UK and US Armed Forces who spoke about their personal experiences of addressing and managing mental health challenges, and the importance of encouraging open conversations about mental health.

Today, the unveiling of a new memorial in Victoria Embankment Gardens, Westminster by Her Majesty The Queen, honours both the UK Armed Forces and civilians who served their country in the Gulf region from 1990 – 2015.

Flying Brit Attempts to Break Four Wingsuit World Records to Raise £1million for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity

Fraser Corsan will be facing the gravity defying challenge in a bid to raise vital funds for a cause close to his heart

In May 2017, British Wingsuit jumper and avid Armed Forces supporter Fraser Corsan, is travelling to the USA and Canada to attempt to break four of the biggest world records in Wingsuit flying. Jumping from a height of over 40,000 feet in what is called ‘Project Cirrus’, Fraser aims to break the distance record of 19 miles, speed record of more than 234 mph and the flight duration record of 9.06 minutes, whilst also breaking the current altitude record of 37,256ft, to raise £1million for SSAFA along the way!

Celebrities join RAF hero to back national fundraising campaign

RAF hero Stuart Robinson has helped launch the RAF Benevolent Fund’s national fundraiser, the Great British Sunday Lunch. The former RAF Gunner suffered life-changing injuries in 2013 when his vehicle hit an IED in Afghanistan, resulting in the loss of both his legs. He was joined at his home in Morecambe, Lancs, by the Midland Hotel’s head chef, Michael Wilson who helped him sharpen up his culinary skills and prepare a mouth-watering dish.

Blind Veterans UK ‘It’s all about community garden’ announced for RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show

It was announced today (10/02) that military charity Blind Veterans UK will be sponsoring a special garden at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in July.

The ‘It’s all about community garden’ has been designed by celebrated designers Andrew Fisher Tomlin & Dan Bowyer and it will be one of the largest show gardens at Hampton Court this year.
