Service group raises more than £1,100 for Poppyscotland

A local service group that helps individuals with learning difficulties has raised almost £1,200 for leading Armed Forces charity Poppyscotland.

The group, which supports individuals with learning difficulties to be more independent through organised activities, chose to support Poppyscotland due to the fact that 2018 is the centenary year of the signing of the Armistice that led to the end of the First World War.

Summer Fayre raises over £7,000 for disabled veterans

On Saturday 14 July, Care for Veterans opened its doors for its annual Summer Fayre, as it has done for many decades.

Despite the World Cup, Wimbledon, and Worthing Pride all being on at the same time, hundreds of visitors came to support the day and a fabulous £7,390 was raised for the charity! Guests enjoyed live performances by the Care for Veterans Choir, the Wonder Girls Pom Pom Troupe, line dancers and the Bubble Man, and also had their photographs taken with Storm Troopers from the Iconic Legion and viewed the amazing motorbikes on show from Raevens Motorcycle Club and Sussex Military Classic bikes.

Princess Royal Commends Supporters of the RNRMC at London Reception

The hard work and commitment of Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) supporters was celebrated with a presentation by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne.

As the national charity of the Royal Naval Service, the RNRMC is reliant upon a vital network of loyal supporters who help ensure it achieves its charitable goals.

The Supporters Reception, hosted at Trinity House in London, celebrated the commitment undertaken by the charity’s volunteers, fundraisers and corporate sponsors.

As Patron of the RNRMC, HRH Princess Anne was in attendance to award a select group of supporters with framed achievement certificates that recognised their individual efforts.

The RAF Benevolent Fund has launched an appeal for serving RAF personnel, reservists and their partners to complete a short survey to help inform the future of its welfare services.

The RAF’s leading welfare charity has commissioned this new piece of research to enable the charity to better respond to the needs of the serving RAF Family. Those who complete this short survey can enter a prize draw to win up to £500, with an additional 75 runner-up prizes of between £20 and £100 in Amazon vouchers also to be won.

Give Us Time is holding its first bake fundraiser: “All they want for Christmas is Time”.

This will be an opportunity for us not only to raise money for our families, but also to raise awareness on our cause by showing a widespread support from communities.

The bake fundraiser will be held on Friday 8th December.

Veterans Turning to Charity For Help Accessing their Eligible Benefits

An RAF welfare charity today revealed it has helped more than 1,000 people access £1.5million in unclaimed benefits after identifying that a large number of veterans were not receiving what they were entitled to.

The RAF Benevolent Fund launched its Advice & Advocacy Service two years ago after research that the charity carried out indicated many of its beneficiaries were not receiving eligible state benefits, such as Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction or Universal Credit.
