OA Extends Military Skills Agenda with new London based Employers Knowledge Swap event

The OA are to repeat the success of previous employer insight days by bringing together employers looking to translate military skills within the civilian workplace.

Employers Knowledge Swap events set out to explore how a business is able to translate the skills gained in the military when seeking to attract, select and develop talent within their own organisations. The next OA Employers Knowledge Swap event will take place on 24th May, in London.

New Forces in Mind Trust award: Anglia Ruskin University to research ways of supporting Commonwealth Personnel and families

A grant of £28,664 has been awarded to Anglia Ruskin University, to conduct an audit of services available for, and provided to, Commonwealth serving and ex-Service personnel and their families in order to identify their specific needs. This eight-month study will be an important first step in understanding the issues facing Commonwealth personnel and their families during their transition from military to civilian life.

This is the first time the Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT) has funded a project or research specifically around the Commonwealth cohort serving in the UK Armed Forces, and/or their families, and it has been commissioned jointly with the Cobseo Foreign and Commonwealth (F&C) Cluster.

Princess pays tribute to Navy’s ‘pioneering’ breed of female sailors.

HRH The Princess Royal officially opened the exhibition ‘Pioneers to Professionals: Women and the Royal Navy’ at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard on the afternoon of 8 March 2017, followed by the launch of the WRNS100 centenary celebrations.

‘Pioneers to Professionals’ champions the early pioneers who fought for equal rights in the Royal Navy and tells the story of how women’s role and service in the navy has changed.

OA Celebrates Second Anniversary of Bristol Office Opening

Two years ago the Officers’ Association opened its first regional office in Bristol with the aim of reaching out to military officers, providing them with support as they transition into civilian life. What started out as a blank canvas is now evolving into an impactful community – engaging with organisations and Service-leavers through networking events and Employer Knowledge Swaps.

Prince Harry joins Veteran’s Mental Health Conference with Heads Together

Prince Harry attended a Veterans’ Mental Health Conference at King’s College London today where he led a panel discussion with three veterans on the power of conversations and getting the right mental health support.

At the event, organised by the King’s Centre for Military Health Research with Forces in Mind Trust, His Royal Highness also met an inspirational pair of injured UK and US veterans who are running this year’s Boston and London Marathons, six days apart, to raise awareness of military mental health issues.
