RAF Association – Financial Controller (Leicester)

The RAF Association is looking for a Financial Controller (FC) to develop relationships with senior managers and budget holders. This role is responsible for the overall management of the development, preparation, dissemination and understanding of Group wide financial reporting. The FC will be responsible for the development of the reporting framework for the whole Group and to develop financial reports for directors and stakeholders to enable informed strategic decisions to be made. They will work with directors and senior managers to understand financial performance and to help create a culture of financial literacy throughout operational aspects of the business.

The FC will also be responsible for the management and delivery of an internal audit programme that provides assurance that financial processes are adhered to and to identify areas for improvement. In addition to this, the FC will provide expert advice to aforementioned directors and senior managers to facilitate sound budgetary control and adherence to process.

The ideal candidate will be a professionally qualified accountant (ACA,ACCA,ACMA) with at least 3 years post qualification experience. Qualification gained while working in Practice. They will have the experience of preparation of statutory and management accounts, budgets and forecasts. Experience of planning and execution of statutory and internal audit assignments and reporting thereof to key stakeholders. In addition to this, they will have working knowledge of VAT and how it relates to partially exempt business with an understanding of how VAT relates to different income streams, knowledge of the application of Charity Funds and FRS102 (SORP) in relation to income recognition.
