About us
For over 90 years, the RAF Association have championed a simple belief – that no member of the RAF community should ever be left without the help that they need. The RAF Association is one of the leading providers of welfare assistance to the RAF community and we exist to ensure that their sacrifice does not result in suffering, poverty, loneliness or isolation. Last year, we supported over 85,500 members of the RAF community who required practical, emotional or financial assistance. For the sake of everyone who needs our help, we continue to evolve and innovate to meet new challenges and remain at the leading edge of service provision. We champion the best interests of the RAF community and work together to make sure no one is ever left behind.
About the job
Due to continued investment in our digital transformation journey, we have a newly created position for a Social Media Officer to execute digital marketing campaigns using paid advertising and organic social media to communicate key messages and drive qualified traffic in support of organisational objectives. Reporting to our Digital Marketing Executive, the post holder will coordinate the Association’s social media presence across the whole group brand.
You will be responsible for implementing both organic and paid social media campaigns to support ecommerce, fundraising, membership, volunteering and beneficiary acquisition goals. As a creative and enthusiastic collaborator, you will work with our Communications and Engagement colleagues to identify audiences and journeys to deliver cost effective leads. Excellent communication skills are integral to the role as you will be coordinating agencies and suppliers, utilising their expertise to maximise value and success. You will also ensure our social media activity is abreast of emerging trends and technologies.
About you
This is not your ‘usual’ social media marketing role! You will be representing not only our Charity, but also our wider group to include our branches, subsidiary companies such as RAFATRAD (our trading subsidiary) and RAFA Kidz Nurseries. Experience of managing and developing multiple social media platforms with audiences exceeding 50,000 people is an essential requirement for this role as is your experience of analytics and reporting to guide data informed decision making. Whilst it is expected that you have an understanding of audiences to create engaging content (along with a working knowledge of applicable legislation and ethical codes of practice) you will have previous experience in preparing and delivering a range of projects in parallel using judgement and experience to manage resource, timescales and budgets.
An understanding of military charities is highly desirable as you will monitor and report on online discussions about the RAF, the Association and other military charities where required, using digital analytical tools to measure sentiment, engagement and action. We need you to have some flexibility to share responsibility with the wider team for social media activity at weekends to publicise RAF Association events and activities around the UK.
It is highly recommended that you read the supporting role profile and person specification prior to applying for the role. This is available to download on our website www.rafa.org.uk and here.
Why join us?
You’ll be joining a fantastic, engaged environment committed to really making a difference. We offer a wide range of benefits including generous holiday entitlement as well as a range of other benefits including pension, EAP and 4 x times life cover. Employees also can take part in a number of fundraising events as volunteers, for which there is additional leave provision of one day per year.
