RNRMC – Transition Support Guide

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

RNRMC is looking to recruit a Transition Support Guide, to join its existing Transition Support Team covering England, Scotland and Wales.

RNRMC, with our many partners, strives to provide assistance to serving and former sailors and marines and their families, with the aim of ensuring they feel valued and supported, throughout their lives. We support the serving community through improvements to working environments, efficiency, morale, welfare, sport and adventurous training, and veterans and families through a wide range of services and partnerships. We collaborate across the military sector and wider, ensuring our funds deliver the outcomes our beneficiaries need.

The Transition Support Service is an exciting, new direction for the Charity which commenced in 2021. Its aim is to develop a stronger beneficiary advocacy role as well as providing the evidence to create a proactive and holistic suite of support provision to the whole Naval Family. The role holder will be a further addition to the existing Transition Support team of 4 individuals reporting to the Transition Support Case Manager. The role will focus on guiding those who may be considered vulnerable as they leave the Service, as well as their families, to achieve a successful transition from service life into the wider civilian world, regardless of their needs or reason for leaving.

For the right candidate, this role presents a rare opportunity to be at the heart of this new initiative as it develops whilst operating directly in support of the charity’s future direction of greater beneficiary advocacy. Previous experience of case-working or side-by-side assistance in the provision of welfare support is essential, but it is equally important to have a genuine interest supporting people to problem solve and achieve personal goals. Ideally you will have lived experience as a Service leaver or close family member of a Service leaver. In addition, you must be excited by the prospect of bringing new ideas and experience to the table in a fast, growing and dynamic organisation and be able to positively contribute to developing and delivering a first-class Transition Support service.

The role of Transition Support Guide will suit a confident and enthusiastic individual capable of guiding positive individual outcomes by building relationships based upon trust and understanding, underpinned by the ability to create effective relationships with numerous other charity partners. Specific training will be provided so that your skill set can be enhanced to suit the breadth and level of guidance we are aiming to deliver.

The successful applicant will have mature and capable interpersonal, leadership and organisational skills, a strong empathy for the Navy Family and the values of RNRMC and be keen to expand their experience to guide those who are at their most vulnerable when leaving the service. They will demonstrate a strong commitment to person-centred support and operate as an effective team player within a close-knit team.

The role location is flexible and will likely combine a mix of office working as well as working from home. RNRMC will provide the necessary office equipment to permit this as well as a transport allowance to enable you to conduct your role, as necessary. This role is likely to involve a fair amount of travel including overnight stays and will attract a starting salary of £30-35k, depending on experience, and comes with an excellent benefits package.

If you feel you have the required skills and experience for this role we would like to hear from you.
