The Role

The Royal British Legion is looking for an experienced multi-disciplined marketer to join the Legion’s Marketing team, to play an integral role in the marketing of a critical support service to the Armed Forces community – Veterans’ Gateway.

The GBP 2 million Veterans Gateway programme, has been awarded by the MOD to a Consortium comprising of The Royal British Legion, Combat Stress, SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity, Connect Assist and Poppyscotland; who provide the service to ensure no veteran is left behind. The service helps veterans find and access advice and support on a broad range of issues, providing a single point of contact via a 24/7 phone number and dedicated website.  This move responds to calls from veterans’ charities and groups, for help in navigating the wide range of services and organisations set up to support those who have served in the Forces.

The Marketing Lead will be responsible for the development and successful delivery of the VG marketing strategy and plan. You will ensure the necessary partners and stakeholders are working with the VG marketing team to execute the plan effectively, and continuously look for new partners and opportunities to increase awareness of VG.

You must have significant experience in aligning traditional and digital marketing to ensure an integrated marketing plan, with a significant level of experience in defining and implementing digital campaigns to support wider marketing plans, focusing on PPC, Programmatic, SEO and user-journey optimisation. Significant experience of partner marketing and how to increase awareness through owned, earned and paid partner channels will also need to be demonstrated.

This position calls for strong senior stakeholder influencing and communications skills, and excellent planning and organisation skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines. You must be a proactive self-starter, able to work unsupervised within agreed timeframes and have the ability to work well within the changing demands of a project. You will also be responsible for the management and development of the VG Marketing Manager.
