Scottish Veterans Commissioner (Scotland)

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Scottish Ministers are seeking to appoint a new Scottish Veterans Commissioner. This role remains the only such appointment dedicated to Armed Forces veterans in the UK. This is a well-established role and is recognised as a key post in Scotland. You are invited to build on and enhance the work that has been carried out by the current Commissioner.

As Commissioner, your overall strategic objective will be to improve outcomes for veterans, their families and Armed Forces families across Scotland by identifying opportunities for positive change and both highlighting and encouraging areas of good practice. You will engage with our Armed Forces veterans and wider Community, listening to and acting on their experiences.

Applications are specifically invited from individuals with a good understanding of both the veterans sector and wider public sector landscape in Scotland.

The post of Commissioner is a part time appointment, roughly equating to 0.5 FTE or 110 days per year. The post is remunerated in the form of a daily fee of £306 calculated in accordance with the Public Sector Pay Policy for Senior Appointments.

This is a fixed term appointment for a period of 3 years. It is expected that the successful applicant will take up post in the summer or autumn of 2018.
