Scotty’s recognised with Silver Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Award

Scotty’s Little Soldiers has been awarded a prestigious Silver Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Award for its ongoing support to the Armed Forces community.

The Silver Award is given by the Ministry of Defence to employers who go above and beyond their Armed Forces Covenant commitments, embedding inclusive policies and visibly championing the value of those connected to Defence in the workplace.

Jade Brighty, Scotty’s Head of People and Operations, said:

“Receiving the Silver Award in the Employer Recognition Scheme is not just an accomplishment; it demonstrates our ongoing commitment to building a welcoming and inclusive organisation for military families and those connected to Defence. This recognition inspires us to keep improving our programmes to support Armed Forces families and to highlight the sacrifices made by service members and their families.”

So far this year, Scotty’s has supported over 770 bereaved military children and young people through its dedicated programmes, with a long-term goal to reach more than 1,000 annually by 2030. The charity is also researching the wider need for bereavement support within the military community and exploring opportunities to expand its services in future.

The ERS Silver Award recognises employers who show sustained commitment to Defence, from actively recruiting and supporting veterans to ensuring military families feel understood and included.

Jade attended an event at Madingley Hall, Cambridge on Thursday 25 September, alongside Andy Sloan, Scotty’s Head of Fundraising, where they received the award on behalf of Scotty’s.
