London, EC3R

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time People and Organisational Development Advisor to join the People team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 73,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet; those currently serving, reserves, veterans and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.

About the role

We are seeking an OD specialist to work closely with the Head of People and OD to manage people and organisation related challenges, focused on Talent Management, Performance Management, Engagement and organisational change.  You will design a new organisation-wide learning and development plan based on the annual people reviews, working alongside L&D team-members and other stakeholders to ensure this is implemented and embedded efficiently and effectively.

You will carry out work in performance management processes and initiatives, employee insights and engagement, communication strategies and plans and support various OD projects. This role needs credible project management expertise to keep projects and initiatives on-track and controlled, with a continuous eye on delivery of desired outcomes.

You will also use your generalist HR skills to provide professional and expert advice to managers on a range of matters, including employee relations.

The role involves occasional travel throughout the UK and overseas, sometimes at short notice. Reporting to the Head of People and OD, you will be diplomatic, proactive and collaborative.

About the team

The team is vibrant, ambitious and hard-working. We work collaboratively, share knowledge and work with each others’ strengths to deliver a professional HR service. We are passionate advocates of consistency and fairness and empower line managers to lead and develop their teams.

This is an exciting time to join the People team as we embark on a number of varied and interesting projects.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have solid OD experience, with a background of managing and delivering projects.

The successful applicant will be results/outcomes oriented, business value focused, will have confidence and ability to work in a range of services and will have strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

This is an opportunity to expand your existing skills in this diverse environment as no two days in the office are the same!
