A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Senior Social Work Practitioner to join the Personal Support & Social Work Service (PS&SWS) at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. This role is 37.5 hours per week and for a fixed term until 30 June 2020.

About the role

You will be delivering a contractual professional service that provides emotional and practical support to the serving personnel and their families. Working as part of a team across the island you will be a dedicated social worker at one of the bases, carrying out both statutory and non-statutory duties. Working both independently and alongside the MOD welfare and community support networks

About the team 

There are three full time dedicated Senior Social Worker posts on island. Travelling across island is required to offer support to colleagues as needed. The team also work alongside the Personal and Family Support team, Victim and witness support team, Solutions relationship support, Community Volunteers, Childminder Coordinator and Fostering service. You will be expected to participate in the on-call rota.

About you

As a professionally qualified and registered practitioner with HCPC, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding issues.  You will have experience of working with children and family’s services and ideally have adult social work experience.  You will be expected to show competence in working in a culturally diverse environment. Demonstrating experience in undertaking child protection enquiries.

To succeed you will be a registered Social Worker with relevant experience.  You should also have the ability to work effectively without direct supervision and possess excellent interpersonal, communication and I.T. skills. Ability to undertake S47 enquiries and using ABE. A full, clean, current driving licence with the ability to drive manual cars is essential.
