SSAFA

SSAFA – Senior Social Work Practitioner (Sessional)

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Home Based

Self-Employed

We currently have an excellent opportunity for experienced Social Workers to join the successful adoption team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity as self-employed sessional workers. This is a homebased role.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 73,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet; those currently serving, reserves, veterans and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.

About the role

The Service is looking for experienced workers to join a supportive and enthusiastic team on a self-employed basis, to undertake assessments and support families through the adoption process. Working from home and willing to travel extensively within the UK you will work with a wide range of professionals and families in a unique environment.

About the team

SSAFA Adoption Service is a registered independent adoption agency. Its work includes the recruitment, assessment and approval of prospective adopters and, through collaborative working with local authorities, the placement of children from the Looked After Children system with approved prospective adopters.  We also provide post placement and post adoption support to adoptive families and work closely with adopted adults who wish to access their birth records.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have:

  • HCPC Registration or equivalent
  • Post qualifying experience of working with children and families in a statutory setting
  • Significant experience of completing prospective adopter assessments and reports and working directly with adoptive families
  • The confidence to work on your own
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to prioritise and organise your own workload
  • A full UK driving license
