In 2024, The Julia Rausing Trust made an award of £600,000 to SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity as part of a three-year partnership to continue the transformation of SSAFA’s frontline welfare delivery service through the Network Delivery Project (NDP).
The NDP is facilitating the provision of one-to-one support for beneficiaries by trained volunteers and staff in every locality in the UK, and in SSAFA branches overseas, and is a developed version of SSAFA’s current flagship casework service.
Now in its second year, this partnership is enhancing the welfare support delivered to the Armed Forces community.
Work delivered as a result of this partnership is aimed at establishing a sustainable welfare delivery model which can provide quality assured support for generations to come, support longer-term outcomes for beneficiaries, and create fully supported and rewarding roles for SSAFA’s volunteers.
Julie McCarthy, Director of Welfare Operations at SSAFA, said:
“SSAFA has a long history – 140 years this year – of supporting those in the Regulars and Reserves during and after their service to the Crown, as well as providing support to their families.
“The relationship with The Julia Rausing Trust is intrinsic to the continuing and successful .provision of casework services when and where they are needed.”
Daniel Chapman, Head of Grants and Director – Health, Welfare & Education at The Julia Rausing Trust, said:
“The Trust is thrilled to support SSAFA’s Network Delivery Project, which significantly enhances the welfare services available to the Armed Forces community. We hope this funding will ensure SSAFA’s frontline welfare services remain resilient and sustainable, enabling continued dedicated support well into the future.”
