Support Our Paras – Events and Efficiency Manager.

An opportunity has arisen within The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces Charity, known as Support Our Paras, for a Full-Time Events and Efficiency Manager.

The successful applicant will join the Fundraising team, working directly to the Head of Fundraising and Communications for all Event activity, and to the CEO for all Regimental Efficiency work. The candidate will have event management skills and experience; exemplary communication abilities, both written and verbal; and strong people and relationship skills, with required diplomacy and directness.

Regimental Efficiency is the charitable objective that covers maintaining and improving the quality of life for serving soldiers from The Parachute Regiment. The appointee should have excellent IT skills and be a self-starter who is capable of working with limited supervision. Prior Regimental service at WO2 level or above is highly desirable.

The role will be based in RHQ PARA, Merville Barracks, Colchester CO2 7UT between the hours of 0900 and 1700 Monday to Friday. The salary on offer will be £32,000 per annum with contributory pension and 25 days annual leave (plus 8 days paid public holidays). There will be a requirement to attend meetings and events around the country, therefore a current driving licence is essential. Accommodation, subsistence and travel costs will be refunded via expenses.

Events

  • PRAFC lead for all Charity input into all key Regimental events and commemorative occasions, working closely with RHQ PARA to enable optimum efficiency and preserve reputation; ensure funding propriety and provide assurance that best use of PRAFC funding is being made, with maximum secondary benefit to the Charity also being achieved.
  • Staff lead for the administration and execution of all PRAFC-led fundraising events. Key responsibilities to include:
    • Liaison and support to enable maximum efficiency of all key annual fundraising events.
    • All event admin for all PARAS’10 events, live and virtual, in UK and abroad. Coord with military stakeholders, Defence Estates and Army Wider Markets. Book all external services and goods, insurance, MOD abatements/licenses, concessions and match estimates with invoices. Maintain budget records. Update event Admin Instructions. Liaise with registration and timing services company, including online dashboard. Manage external web-designer for PARAS’10 site and site updates through new CMS System. Attend all events as Charity lead.
    • Provide contact, support, planning expertise and resource for civilian and regimental individuals, companies and groups staging sponsored events on behalf of the charity, and/or event participants (provide advice, charity logos, help with donation sites when needed, payment details, merchandise, auction items, certificates where required), in order to ensure minimal risk, optimal success and maximum benefit to the charity, both financial and reputational.
    • Manage the annual Airborne Burpee Challenge, setting up the event page and advertising the event in good time. Monitor fundraising pages, issue medals, maintain event budget.
    • Scope, assist in development and launch new fundraising events as directed.
    • Event feedback, maximise post-event publicity and maintain event profiles and marketing for next iteration.

Efficiency

  • PRAFC staff lead for the charitable objective of ‘Regimental Efficiency’, reporting to CEO.
  • Main point of contact for the serving Regiment within the Charity; establish a regular routine of talking to the serving Regiment, to increase awareness and support.
  • Primary staff advisor to the Regimental Efficiency Committee (REC).
  • Assist Battalion 2ICs and RSMs in the formulation and screening of the Battalions’ annual funding proposals for the REC.
  • Advise and assist in the staffing of all individual funding requests from the serving Regiment and in their preparation/prioritisation for consideration by the Charity and/or the REC; ensure that public funding is fully exploited and that alternative non-public funding sources are both sought and then properly almonised.
  • Monitor progress and success of approved funding requests, in order to ensure that the event is executed, lessons learned and best practise captured for future use; all to ensure most efficient use of charitable resource for the serving Regiment’s benefit.
