The FIRST PTSD Experimental Treatment Trial (FIRST PETT) is evaluating a new psychological therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) called Fast Imagery Reversal Script for Trauma-release (FIRST). The therapy is designed to be comfortable, non-traumatising, short duration and non-intrusive. This current study builds on promising results from earlier work with ex-servicemen and women, which you can read more about here.
We are now aiming to recruit 215 UK military veterans who have PTSD or are experiencing PTSD symptoms. Eligible participants will be randomly allocated to receive FIRST therapy immediately, or to join a waiting list and receive the therapy after 24 weeks. The therapy itself is delivered online over 3-4 sessions and our study will be assessing its effectiveness.
Veterans can learn more and apply to take part in the study on our website: https://www.inspirewellbeing.org/firstpett-project/
