The Seafarers’ Charity – Trustees (two positions)

Help us steer positive change for seafarers worldwide

  • Do you have senior leadership experience in the charitable sector?
  • Have you built successful corporate partnerships and led impactful fundraising strategies?
  • Are you driven by purpose and passionate about improving lives?

If so, we’d love to hear from you.

The Seafarers’ Charity is recruiting two new Trustees to join the charity in 2025.

For more than a century, we’ve championed the welfare of seafarers and their families. We deliver strategic grant-making, drive partnerships, and influence policy to improve seafarers’ lives. We award more than £2 million each year to our frontline delivery partners.

Now we’re looking for two people with the following skills:

  • Expertise in charity leadership and governance

You will be able to demonstrate strong strategic thinking and an understanding of the complexities of governance in the charitable sector. We are particularly interested in candidates in a senior leadership role in a charity or with experience serving on boards or committees.

  • A strong background in fundraising and income generation

You will have a proven track record in fundraising and be able to demonstrate involvement in income generation, particularly around corporate engagement and building relationships.

As a Trustee, you will:

  • Help shape our strategic direction and good governance
  • Offer insight and networks to strengthen our impact
  • Be part of a team dedicated to lasting, global change

You’ll join at a pivotal moment, as we refresh our strategy in 2025 and broaden our global focus.

Location: London-based meetings with hybrid attendance

Time: Approx. 6 meetings/year plus occasional events

Term: 3 years, renewable

Remuneration: Voluntary, with expenses reimbursed

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, particularly those underrepresented in the sector. Trustee experience is welcome but not required—what matters is strategic thinking, collaboration, and commitment.

To apply, email chair@theseafarerscharity.org with your CV and a cover letter outlining your interest and relevant experience.
