Update from the Royal Caledonian Education Trust

In light of the impact of COVID-19 we will be expanding our Crisis Intervention Fund to focus our efforts on supporting those children, young people and their families from the Armed Forces community who are in the greatest of need. At this challenging time, we have also had to take the difficult decision to suspend several of our services to ensure that we can continue to meet the needs of the most vulnerable.

Given the situation we thought it would be helpful to provide you with an update on the services we provide:

Crisis Intervention Fund:
This Fund will be open to any family you believe has been made vulnerable, or more vulnerable as a result of COVID-19. We will be a providing targeted approach for those in need of support to buy food, emergency utilities top-ups and children’s clothing.

These are exceptional times and we will do everything we can to keep Armed Forces families supported during this crisis.

The following Funds are current suspended until further notice:
  • School Children’s Fund
  • Tertiary Support Fund (We will continue to support students currently receiving grants until the end of the academic year)
  • Respite and Family Breaks Service (Those families who have been awarded breaks will be able to take them as soon as is practicable)

These suspensions will allow us to spend more time focusing on the children and families most impacted, or at risk from being severely impacted by COVID-19. We will do everything we can to get these Funds up and running again as soon as it is practical to do so.

Any questions please do not hesitate to email familysupport@rcet.org.uk or call us on 0131 322 7350 where one of the team will get back to you as soon as we can.
