We are working in partnership with Veterans Outreach Support (VOS), an award-winning charity that offers welfare, wellbeing, mental health support and services to veterans of the UK Armed Forces and the Merchant Navy, and their partners, in Portsmouth, Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight. Over the last 4 years, VOS has seen an increasing demand for the vital mental health services and support they provide and has significantly expanded its range of peer-supported wellbeing activities and social groups.
VOS is now seeking experienced and committed individuals to join its Board of Trustees to oversee the strategic development and direction of VOS, making a major contribution to the future success of the organisation. Following a skills audit, the charity has identified key areas that would benefit from specific expertise and experience and candidates with these skill sets are encouraged to apply:
- Finance
- Commercial (e.g. charity trading arm, CIC or social enterprise)
- Physical, Mental Health and Adult Social Care professionals
- People Management to include organisational development, learning and development and HR (ideally with a CIPD qualification)
- Digital transformation and business intelligence
Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Commitment to VOS and its objectives in support of veterans
- Strong leadership skills, with a strong collaborative and team ethic
- Ability to think strategically and contribute to Board level discussions
- Tact, diplomacy and good communication and interpersonal skills
- Impartiality, fairness and the ability to respect confidentiality
Board meetings are held 4 times a year, with other commitments as required.

Interviews with VOS: Interviews days are currently held for 1 November and 6 December and will include an observer session at a Drop-In day.
Charisma vetting interviews must be completed by lunchtime on Tuesday 24th October prior to shortlisting on Wednesday 25 October.
