Activity Holiday in Majorca Provides Respite

Majorca

We were thrilled to once again be featured in the Majorca Daily Bulletin following our recent trip to the island with 17 wounded, injured and sick serving personnel and veterans. From 7th – 14th October, servicemen from the Royal Navy, Army took part in a varied programme of events in Majorca. The week was designed to build confidence and provide fun and excitement away from the monotony of the rehabilitation process, with beneficiaries treated to activities such as hiking, horse riding, water caving and climbing. A gala evening at Son Amar – thanks to the fantastic generosity of owner Margaret Whittaker OBE – prompted one individual to declare that the week spent in Majorca was “the best trip he had ever been on.”

We are proud to be an inclusive charity, extending our support of individuals regardless of the type, or source, of their illness or injury. Our final week in Majorca was testament to this, with individuals suffering from muscular and skeletal issues, degenerative eye sight and PTSD. Despite the range and nature of disabilities, the variety of activities offered ensured that every individual had the opportunity to be fully involved in the holiday.

“Our current medical situations haven’t enabled us to spend much time with a group of likeminded individuals and it was a massive morale boost for us. The activities that were arranged were amazing and well organised and outside of anything we have experienced before. Sitting around the dinner table and hearing people’s stories from various services and backgrounds was a great insight into others’ lives. Hearing about their struggles but then their motivators in keeping positive was truly inspirational.”
