DMWS – Executive Assistant

Salary: £35 – £40K – full time
Location: Hampshire

We are working in partnership with the St John and Red Cross Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS), to find a new Executive Assistant to provide executive support to the CEO/SLT.

DMWS is a specialist organisation that has been providing an independent and confidential welfare service since 1943, to those in hospital, rehabilitation or recovery. DMWS has long held a reputation for its high standards of service, traditional values and cooperative working alongside Defence.   The organisation has a profound understanding of the issues and challenges faced by those who provide 24/7 protection to the public. In addition, their knowledge and expertise, rooted in operational experience, places them perfectly to extend their service to other personnel who serve the nation and the community, such as the Police.

The Executive Assistant role will suit an ambitious, organised administrator with great interpersonal skills, a commitment and loyalty to the team and organisation.  This new role, which sits within the senior management team, will suit an individual with a high level of personal energy, drive and resilience with the ability to work to corporate aims without losing touch with day-to-day service delivery.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive support services to the CEO and SLT that ensures a professional, responsive and effective experience with the organisation as a whole.
  • To fully engage with the delivery of all DMWS aims, ethos and objectives and to embed and sustain a performance management culture across the organisation.
  • Provide sophisticated calendar management. Prioritise inquiries and requests while troubleshooting conflicts with little guidance
  • Make judgments and recommendations to ensure smooth day-to-day engagements
  • Drafting papers and minutes for SLT level decision briefs
  • Be responsible for the detailed logistics around CEO visits to various locations and stakeholder meetings
  • Manage the detailed logistics around Royal visits and key VIP events including the creation of the briefs for such events.
  • Liaise with Board members and offer support as required at the request of the CEO

The successful candidate will have demonstrable expertise of high quality executive support alongside fully developed influencing, persuading and communication skills.  You will have an understanding of etiquette and form and be comfortable in the company of Royalty at VIP events.  This opportunity will offer genuine potential for advancement as development and training will be given to someone with the skills to become a director in the future.  Outstanding business skills, together with an empathy with Uniformed Services, will ensure that DMWS have the highest calibre of individuals to consider for this vital role.
