DMWS – Trustee (Volunteer Role)

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

DMWS was originally formed in 1943 by St John and Red Cross to provide welfare support in military hospitals around the world.  In 2001, DMWS was formed as a separate charity and continued to provide welfare services as required by the Ministry of Defence.

Over the last few years, the organisation has begun to broaden its reach, working with the Police, Prison Service, veteran charities and NHS England.

At present, we have a board of Trustees who provide the strategic direction for the organisation and are now seeking additional Trustees with specific qualities and expertise to join the board to take the organisation into 2020 and beyond.

DMWS are specifically seeking applications from individuals who have strategic expertise in income generation, building supporter engagement and fundraising development. Other required skills/knowledge include knowledge of governance, ability to be a “critical friend” and an ability to see the wider picture including opportunities for growth.

The Board of Trustees

The board meet at least four times a year, in either London or Andover.  The board is tasked with determining the overall strategic direction and development of the organisation by agreeing organisational policies, budgets and objectives, and to ensure targets are set and performance is measured against targets.

In addition to board meetings, there are sub-committees, events and visits.  Each Trustee is expected to use their skills, knowledge and experiences to assist the board in making sound decisions.
