Funding boost for innovative Recruit for Spouses Coaching Programme

Recruit for Spouses (RFS) – the award-winning social enterprise, has secured funding from The Veterans’ Foundation – a nationwide source of funding for Armed Forces charities and charitable activities. The funding will be used to further support the RFS Coaching Programme, which aims to support the wives, husbands and partners of members of our Armed Forces back into gainful employment.

The Veterans’ Foundation lent their support to the RFS Coaching Programme following a successful application by RFS. The Veterans’ Foundation recognised that military spouses are frequently disadvantaged in the workplace, facing bias over their lifestyle choice which affects their career opportunities. The importance of providing spouses with a holistic approach to returning to the workplace was recognised as essential by the Veterans’ Foundation. The programme enables spouses to talk through their thoughts, hurdles and aspirations with a professional RFS Coach, providing them with the tools to make decisions about moving forward professionally.

The Veterans’ Foundation CEO, David Shaw CBE said; “The Trustees were impressed with Recruit for Spouses’ focus to get spouses back into the workplace. It is vital work, which has a ripple effect across all aspects of the spouses’ life. The Veterans’ Foundation is established to support such great projects and we look forward to seeing the coaching programme grow.”

Speaking of the funding boost, Isabel Knight from Recruit for Spouses said; “We are thrilled to receive this funding from The Veterans’ Foundation. By recognising the importance for a military spouse to feel supported, inspired and fulfilled in what they do, the Veterans’ Foundation will help our spouses to achieve a more balanced, happy professional life. RFS cannot wait to invest even more into our spouses.”

The RFS Coaching Programme is open to all military spouses to apply for, and is free to undertake. The programme forms 6 weeks of 1-hour sessions a week. The Coaches, who volunteer their time, are carefully selected from RFS’ partners to ensure they are familiar with the environment of a military spouse looking to get back into the workplace.
